It was a high honour for Living Blueprint to be chosen by Timothy Bullinger to create a brand for his internationally revered Arca3 Design Studio. One quick look at Arca3’s client list is all it takes to see that Timothy is no normal architect. His breathtaking, singular designs have made him a favourite among a who’s who of illustrious personalities, including Phil Collins, Vidal Sassoon, Davis (Max) Factor, Georges Marciano, and Rip Taylor. A man of specific and uncompromising tastes, Timothy had already tried and rejected several branding firms when he approached Living Blueprint with the challenge of creating a brand and image that would be consistent with his own unique and meticulous work.

The Arca3 video project, still in progress after over eighteen months, involved many hours of intensive one-on-one time, during which Timothy and the staff of Living Blueprint became acquainted with each other’s skills, approach, philosophy, and vision. The result of this deeply personal approach was that – just as Arca3’s multimillion-dollar clients put 100% trust in Timothy’s design sensibilities – he felt comfortable granting Living Blueprint free reign to create his brand. Honoured to have earned the trust of a visionary such as Timothy Bullinger, Living Blueprint did not take the challenge lightly.

A key concept of the Arca3 brand is its exclusivity, a characteristic that had to come across in the website. It was imperative for the brand to exude a tone that was strikingly upscale – bordering on intimidating – without being pretentious. This was accomplished via several methods:
+ The use of Flash to create the website. Flash is not visible to search engines, which ensured that the Arca3 website would not be stumbled upon or go viral. Only clientele “in the know” would find themselves browsing Arca3’s website.
+ An unusual website layout utilizing a long, thin horizontal strip between large blocks of negative space. Seemingly inefficient and counterintuitive to standard web design sensibilities, this unique layout was consistent with Timothy’s affinity for the aesthetic of Japanese-inspired minimalism.
+ A seven-minute documentary, still in progress, as the website to showcase Arca3’s incredible work. Living Blueprint showed their artistic mettle by conceiving of a completely new film ratio to conform to the site’s unique layout. Painstakingly crafted using a full script and storyboards, the documentary, and the technical challenges presented by shooting in the new ratio, are a vivid testament to Living Blueprint’s willingness to go that extra length to suit the best interests of the client.
